Saint Augustine once said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” A truer metaphor has perhaps never been spoken. Traveling is among the most important, fulfilling things one can do in life.

I envy those who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of the journey, who stop at nothing to see everything. Those who can’t stay in one place for too long, who accept every challenge and new experience with open arms and eyes. Those people, in my eyes, are the smartest people.

Louis Cole is one such person. He spends his life trekking the globe in pursuit of nothing besides, perhaps, fresh experiences and new perspectives. Cole created a compilation video, Living the Adventure, to showcase his travels over the past year.

The video is a montage of clips that Cole filmed throughout his journeys around the world, including Tulum, Mexico, Istanbul, Turkey and New Zealand. Over the footage, Cole preaches the importance of traveling. He explains, “This isn’t about escaping life, but about not letting life escape you.”

Cole’s inspirational words — and the sheer beauty of the footage he’s captured over the past year — will kick your wanderlust into high gear. So check it out, and get started planning that next trip — because even if you can’t get through the whole “book,”  you owe it to yourself to read more than one page.
