What’s The Weirdest Law You Never Knew About?
Every once in a while, a new bill will become a regional or state law with a very bizarre addendum. It could have been a compromise or an attempt to filibuster, but is usually something very few people get caught for or even know about. Here are a few of our favorite ridiculous regional laws we found:
1. Quitman, GA: It is against the law for chickens to cross the road
Maybe the joke was invented in Quitman by the only police officer who ever enforced this law. He/she must have really needed to fill the quota.
2. NC: It is against the law to sing off key
As a former NC resident, I can guarantee this is not strictly enforced. Though I guess singing in the presence of a cop doesn’t happen too often anyway.
3. WY: It is against the law to take a picture of a rabbit without a permit from
January-April
Rabbits and cameras must be an integral part of the New Year’s Eve and May Day festivities! Ok, not NYE.
4. WA: It is against the law to harass Bigfoot
Harassment is harassment.
