Awesome Alert: Intermaché’s Fight Against Food Waste
French organization Intermaché has been making waves recently with their brilliant idea to make use of all the great produce that mass suppliers throw away. Some fruits or vegetables will come out of the crop a little misshapen or otherwise imperfect, so Intermaché is selling them in their own “inglorious” sections of many European food markets for a discounted price. Throwing all this produce away goes against the values of good balanced nutrition, visual indiscrimination, and sustainability, and this simple solution can take care of them all. As the campaign spreads throughout Europe and on the internet, we can only hope the United States will soon follow suit. Why didn’t we think of this so long ago?
