With the New Year comes new resolutions, and in 2015, many hopeful people will plan on getting in better shape. Your resolutions may seem futile, and your progress nonexistent, but with these new shoes, you can at least keep your phone charged.

If you thought you were going to have to wait until 2030 to see this type of technology, you’re wrong. According to the Daily Mail, a group of students from Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania created the SolePower EnSoles, shoe insoles that create a charge when you walk.

The insoles will be made to fit a pair of everyday shoes and connect to a battery pack attached on the shoe’s laces. The contraption has a set of generators with the ability to generate up to two-and-a-half hours of battery life for your smart phone. As of right now, the device is in its production stages, but the company has plans to launch it as soon as possible. After all, there’s always a market for people with phones that are constantly low on battery.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Davit Davitian, the head of business development for the SolePower EnSoles, explained how simple it is to use. He explained, “When you wish to charge your phone, you simply detach the PowerPac from your shoelaces and plug into the available USB port.”

Once your battery pack is filled up from walking, you can connect your smartphone to it for a charge, which will feed your phone with two-and-a-half hours of battery life.
