Samuel Love is a remarkable 11-year-old with an amazing mission: to spread joy to children in need by raising money to provide them with toys. His last name is perfectly fitting because he truly does have such great LOVE for these kids.

For the third year in a row, Samuel is holding a toy drive in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. He’s made incredible progress every year, and he sets the bar higher for himself with every drive.

The idea came to mind after Hurricane Sandy devastated the lives of many New Yorkers. Upset by the thought of children unable to have toys for the holidays — because they were lost in the hurricane or their families couldn’t afford them — Samuel decided to take action. At age 9, he organized his first toy drive, resulting with donations providing over 800 toys to the children of New York.

Last year, Samuel set a new goal for his drive to raise enough money to get 2,000 toys. 1,500 toys were collected and sent to kids affected by tornadoes in Colorado and Oklahoma. He’s upped the ante yet again and hopes to raise 2,500 toys this year. At the rate he’s going, we think he’ll surpass his goal. There’s never a bad reason to give deserving kids some happiness, no matter what form it comes in.
